Jack Deaner
Formerly of New Paris
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Deaner, age 89, on January 11 at
Pennknoll Village in Everett, Pennsylvania. He was born on June 1, 1936, in Schellsburg,
Pennsylvania, to Blair and Irene (Huffman) Deaner.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard “Dick” Deaner.
He was the beloved husband of Joan (Otto) Deaner and a loving father to two children: Jackie
Logue (Jeff Logue) and Rodney Deaner (Leisa Bolinger). Jack was a proud grandfather to five
grandchildren: Natalie Logue, Hillary Logue, Ashley Small, Stephanie Feather, and John Deaner.
He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Olivia, Bradyn, Lincoln, Rylee, Maylin, and
Lucas.
Jack graduated from Schellsburg-Napier School, where his talent for baseball stood out early. Upon
graduation, he signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and played Class A
baseball in Olean, New York, and Mattoon, Illinois. He later became well known as a great player in
the local county league. He spent his career working as a truck driver for companies such as Pepsi
and Ames.
Jack will be remembered by family and friends who knew him throughout his life.
A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Rod Horner officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home in Alum Bank, Pennsylvania.
